Spanish Montessori Learning Centre

The Spanish Montessori Learning Centre (SMLC) is the first Spanish Immersion pre-school program in the city of Lethbridge. It is our goal to provide a place where children can be exposed mainly to the Spanish language in a fun and educational environment.

We follow the Montessori Philosophy and Methodology in the program for Toddlers and Preschoolers (2 to 6 years olds). For the infants (0 to 2 years) we provide a loving and safe place where children, and where they will be immersed mainly in the Spanish Language.

We believe in the importance of individual and free learning, providing the children with a safe nurturing and interesting environment so they can discover about themselves others and the world around them.

Our Focus is to give children opportunities to do everyday practical activities that will help them develop their sensory, motor, emotional, language, social and problem solving skills.

Qualified Staff Our staff is qualified in Montessori Training and Early Childhood Education. Certified in First Aid, CPR training and Food Safety.

Personalized Education We meet the childcare department requirements (teachers per kids ratio) It develops trust & confidence to your kids. Personalized Education from 7 am to 5:30pm.

Montessori Philosophy

Montessori is an empirical discipline

It is the aiming to study and to help the development of the human individual from birth to maturity within the context of his life-situation. It is an educational method insofar as education is an integrative part of the formative process.

Maria Montessori. the founder of the Montessori method, graduated from the medical school of the University of Rome in 1896, and was the first woman to practice medicine in Italy. As a physician, Dr. Montessori was very involved with the care of young children.

Through scientific observation, she came to see how children interacted with one another, learned through the use of materials she provided, and went through specific phases of development.

Her approach to education was developed based on her observations, in collaboration with her background in psychology and her belief in the education of children as a means to create a better society.
